Spellbound
by Emily Bronte
In my opinion, spellbound is an admiration about
something that
awesome or amaze. But, in this poetry, spellbound has different meaning. From
the first stanza, “night is darkening
around me”, night is a symbol of the darkness, loneliness and something which is bad, it is represent the problem that come to me. “the wild winds coldly blow” and the
problem make me worried. “a tyrant spell
has bound me”, the problem make me spell, but spell
here is not to spell about something
that good thing, but it is something that bad, and it makes me so bound and
block me, so “I cannot go, cannot go”
I can’t avoid and I can’t go from this problem.
The
second stanza, “the giant trees are
bending”, it means that the problem is bigger in front of me. “their bare boughs weighed with snow”
the problem is much more difficult than before and makes me so confuse. “the storm is fast descending” the big problem
quickly come to me, and make me “and yet
I cannot go” not yet to go from this problem.
And
the last stanza, “clouds beyond clouds
above me” so many problem and problem come to me, “wastes beyond wastes below” the problem to be the worst. “but nothing drear can move” I can’t do
anything and can’t to find the solution from this problem. “I will not, cannot go” and I won’t to go, I can’t to run from this
problem.
