“GHOST”
1. In
my opinion, Mrs. Alving has bad character. Although she is a good mother because she sent
her son to school in Europe
and to hide about Captain Alving’s attitude, but she can’t to receive the
reality that actually her husband has bad attitude. She always try to hide the
fact that her husband has affair with her maid until he got a daughter. Mrs.
Alving didn’t want to everyone know about that especially Oswald and Regina. And
the impact of Mrs. Alving’s action is Oswald supposed that his father’s life is
like a ghost because he didn’t know surely about his father personality and
because his mother never told truly about his father (page 66 and 68).
2.
- “Joy of life” in this drama is about Oswald that attracted with Regina.
He didn’t know that actually Regina is his half-sister. He saw that Regina is
beautiful, confidence and energy. And then he fell in love with Regina. (page
56).
-
Isn’t
clearly about Oswald disease. Some opinion talks about “syphilis” and the other
talk about “vermoulu”. Syphilis is a hereditary disease, same with vermoulu.
Vermoulu is the disease of “wormeaten” (This suggestion seems to be that Oswald
is fore doomed “wormeaten” from his birth- www.bard.org).
Oswald’s
disease is a venereal disease same with the disease that his father get. It’s
because both of Oswald and Captain Alving is life with drunk and he has affair
with another woman.
3.
The
influence of the religious in this drama is very important, about Pastor
Manders’s personality. Pastor Manders is the Pastor of the Paris, he is pious
and devoted Christian. He extremely sensitive with public opinion so he always
keeps his attitude. When Mrs. Alving gone from her home and she met with Pastor
Manders, the Pastor sent her back to her husband and telling her, “…a wife’s
part to be her husband’s judge. You should have considered it your bounden duty
humbly to have borne the cross that a higher will had laid upon you…”(page 26).
Its mean that the religious of Pastor Manders is very give impact to Mr.s
Alving.
